The Cross-Border Platform of Non-Governmental Organizations for Interregional Cooperation was established in Chernivtsi during a cross-border seminar held as part of the trilateral project “The Impact of NGOs and Mass Media on the Transparency of Authorities in the Border Regions of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Romania.”

The project was implemented by the “Public Resources and Initiatives” Charity Foundation in partnership with:

  • Chernivtsi Regional Civic Association “Bukovynski Perspektyvy” (Ukraine)
  • International Association of Small and Medium Business “Small Euro Business” (Republic of Moldova)
  • Charity Foundation “Ana” (Romania)

The project was financially supported by the “East-East: Partnership Beyond Borders” Programme (International Renaissance Foundation, Soros Foundation Moldova, and Soros Foundation Romania).

The Platform was founded by NGOs from the border regions of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Romania. It initially brought together 40 non-governmental organizations, including 27 from Ukraine, 3 from Moldova, and 10 from Romania.

The aim of the Platform was to strengthen civil society’s role in promoting transparency and accountability of public authorities, and to support the sustainable development of regions and communities.

Serhiy Mykhailovych Hakman, Vice President of the “Public Resources and Initiatives” Foundation, was elected to the leadership of the Platform as:

  • Chair of the Coordination Council for a one-year term, and
  • Member of the Coordination Council for a three-year term.
