Ukrainian Language Supports, Unites, and Restores: The DUM Club Held an Offsite Meeting in Mamaivtsi

The Ukrainian language has a unique ability to bring people together — especially those who have lived through the war and continue their daily journey of recovery. Poetry often allows us to express what is difficult to say in ordinary conversation. It opens space for reflection, for an honest encounter with one’s own experience, and for new meanings that help restore inner strength.

This was exactly the atmosphere during the offsite meeting of the Volunteers of the Ukrainian Language Club (DUM), which took place in Mamaivtsi. Participants read poetry, shared their thoughts, listened to one another, and spoke about the power of the Ukrainian language in everyday life and in the process of healing after the war.

A particularly touching moment was the speech of Mykola Buchatskyi, Deputy Head of the Mamaivtsi Village Council, who recently returned from the frontline. He shared deeply personal stories — painful, honest, and at the same time full of light. He spoke about his comrades, about moments that remain forever in memory, and about the unbreakable spirit of Ukrainian soldiers. His words gave the meeting a special sincerity, depth, and a vivid presence of the war in our everyday reality.

The Ukrainian language is more than rules and grammar. It is a shared experience, collective memory, and a way of being together. It is a means of supporting one another with simple, humane words.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who joined the meeting and to the Mamaivtsi community for their support and organization.
