“School for Young Women Leaders in European Integration” Continued Its Work in Kyiv and Chernivtsi

From 15 to 18 July 2026, training sessions were held in Kyiv and Chernivtsi as part of the project “School for Young Women Leaders in European Integration.” The programme brought together active, motivated and socially engaged participants who seek to strengthen their communities, develop leadership competencies and become more actively involved in social and democratic processes.

Over two training days in each city, the participants explored European values, human rights, gender equality, civic participation, women’s leadership and mechanisms for influencing decision-making processes.

The training sessions examined how gender inequality and stereotypes manifest themselves in everyday life, professional environments, civic engagement and political representation. The participants analysed the barriers women face, discussed ways to overcome them, and considered the importance of the equal participation of women and men in Ukraine’s democratic development and European integration process.

Particular attention was given to practical mechanisms of civic participation. The participants learned about tools for engaging with public authorities, advocating for socially important issues, promoting civic initiatives and influencing decisions related to community development.

The training was delivered by Nataliia Tarasenko and Halyna Hordina. Through a combination of theoretical materials, practical exercises, group discussions and the analysis of real-life situations, the participants were able not only to acquire new knowledge but also to relate it to their own professional and civic experience.

The sessions created a space for open dialogue, the exchange of views and the search for practical solutions. The participants asked questions, shared their own examples, critically analysed social processes and identified ways to strengthen their influence and contribute to positive change in their communities.

Historian and Member of Parliament of Ukraine Volodymyr Viatrovych also joined the second training day in Kyiv. During the meeting, he shared his experience of civic engagement and participation in national decision-making processes, and spoke about the importance of consistency, responsibility and an active civic position.

The training sessions marked the first stage of the educational programme. The participants will continue with further modules, practical assignments, mentoring support, the development of their own civic initiatives and the preparation of project ideas.
