On 11 June, the rural branch of the Municipal Institution “Yurkovetska Public Library” in Dobrynivtsi (Chernivtsi Oblast) hosted the blog-café “How to Engage with the Media During Wartime?”, organised by Together We Can project ambassador Halyna Dobrovolska.
Nataliia Nechaieva-Yurii-chuk—Head of the Chernivtsi Regional Office of the Public Resources and Initiatives Charity Foundation, Candidate of Historical Sciences, and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University—was invited as mentor and expert for the training.
The event comprised two parts:
Discussion focus: the role of the media in wartime, fact-checking, and effective use of social networks for community needs.
Practical segment: participants recorded interviews and drafted posts for Facebook and Instagram, receiving feedback from experts.
Participants included representatives of local government and education, cultural workers, and youth—among them the Head of the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Yaroslav Kotyk and Dobrynivtsi village elder Tetiana Dariichuk.
“Media literacy is a community’s shield against information attacks. At our Foundation we believe that critical-thinking and storytelling skills make every resident an active defender of the truth,”
— Nataliia Nechaieva-Yurii-chuk
Ms Nechaieva-Yurii-chuk led a fact-checking session, shared rapid source-verification methods, and helped participants turn local stories into high-quality online content.
“At the Public Resources and Initiatives Charity Foundation we are always pleased to support such initiatives. We are convinced that community resilience begins with open dialogue and competent communication. When local leaders and activists master media-literacy tools, they not only safeguard the information space from disinformation but also create conditions for unity, development, and swift responses to the challenges of war,”
— Nataliia Nechaieva-Yurii-chuk
Since 2015, the Public Resources and Initiatives Charity Foundation has supported community development through education, culture, and social innovation, with special emphasis on veteran reintegration, media literacy, and civic leadership.
